UPDATE FROM CYNTHIA

Tuesday, 9/20, 11:35AM ET

I called Cynthia just now hoping to get through as her cellphone is usually off or outside of service. I wanted to know about this woman's dogs mentioned in the last update. I managed to get through. The address is on their list, but probably toward the end of the day as they have a predetermined route every morning of addresses they received back at Lamar-Dixon.

She told me about a pit bull they just rescued that is in the van with them now. He was in an alley and they thought he was dead at first because the flies were eating him, but he moved his eyes and looked at them. They spent some time getting him treatment right there in the alley and then he was able to actually sit up. He was hurt in the flood and couldn't walk to the food that is now left on almost every street corner. Right now, it looks like the poor guy is going to be fine.

While I was on the phone with her, she said "Hey, they just caught a chicken!"
"With my bare hands!" I could hear the proud rescuer say in the background.
