PS TO SPONSOR SIX RESCUED DOGSSunday, 9/25, 12:25M ET While Cynthia, Laura, Heidi, and Karin were on the ground in
Louisiana, back at headquarters we have been working hard
on helping to organize transports of animals out of Louisiana.
We have many lined up that look like they will help get
hundreds more cats and dogs out of harms way (more detail as
we get our list organized).
One shelter doing an excellent job is the Conway Area Humane
Society in North Conway, NH. Roz Manwaring, the shelter's
director, and I spoke at length about their efforts. The CAHS
has had a "southern rescue railroad" in place long before
Hurricane Katrina. This shelter currently has rescued six dogs
from St. Charles Parish in Louisiana who were directly affected
by Katrina.
These six dogs are in pretty bad shape. For example, Gordon
the lab has chemical burns from the sludge. Each of the
dogs needs medical care and Project Starfish is happy to announce
that it will be sponsoring the vet bills for these dogs. Roz
has promised to send me pictures of these guys soon.
